Romance Review Junkie

Reviewer: Nickie Langdon

PAST RUNNING by Mlyn Hurn will keep you turning the pages to see how it all plays out. You’ll laugh and sigh a little in some of the more tender sections. ELLORA’S CAVEMEN: TALES FROM THE TEMPLE IV will keep you glued to your seat from the first page of NIGHT SCREAMS through the last page of THE BECKONED. The tales are visual works of art and a must read. There is something for everyone: banshees, paranormal happenings, witches, ghosts, suspense and time travel.

Overall Rating: 4

Sensuality rating: Explicit

Aeryn is smart and finds a way to not only survive but win in a dangerous situation. Devlin is a sexy hero, protective and ready to save the day! I will read this one again and watch for other stories by Mlyn Hurn. Very good!

Overall impression: This is a satisfying collection of stories that will delight and thrill you. Each of the authors is gifted with the ability to make their characters come alive and to describe intriguing situations, places and ideas in ways that grab a reader’s attention and keep it to the last word. Of course sensuality is a big part of every story, with levels ranging from spicy to hot. Each story showcases the “Romantica” that Ellora’s Cave is known to deliver. With four different genres represented, there is something for everyone in this excellent anthology!

Past Running- This contemporary romance is filled with action on all levels. Devlin is a very attractive male lead and Aeryn fits him to a T.

This is the fourth book in this series and once again, it was just a delightful blend of paranormal and contemporary stories. The writing was crisp and the sensuality rating is high. The stories were engrossing and I can happily say there wasn’t a weak link among them. Ellora’s Cavemen: Tales from the Temple IV continues in the fine tradition of the previous books and gives the readers a taste of what an Ellora’s Cave book is.

Ellora’s Cave has done it again with their fourth edition of Tales from the Temple series. This reviewer was awed by the sheer magnitude and depth that each author provided in their stories and how well it all came together as a whole. Each author’s perceptions and writing style blend harmoniously and delivers a wonderful ride of six different genres. From Fantasy to contemporary to science fiction, each story delivers all it has and grabs the reader’s attention from the beginning to end.

Mon Boudoir Reviews

Rating: 4.5 / Sensuality: 4.0

All the stories are about powers only true love have: longer lasting than every potion as well as stronger than dark magic, evil, death and time. Be prepared to be swept away to other worlds and ages, to be pleasured beyond imagination and touched to your very soul. Grab a fan (because it will get hot) and tissues (because they make you cry), send your family and friends away, cancel phone, fax and email, sit back and enjoy these wonderful mix of love stories. But be careful you could loose your heart to one of the hunks in them.

Ms. Hurn has mixed a suspenseful plot with retrospects that reveal step by step the love story of Aeryn and Devlin. So that the reader gets in the end a complete insight in all what takes place in the present and in the feelings of the lovers for each other. It’s a clever scripted tale with hot love scenes so that you will have a great time reading “Past Running”.

Mlyn Hurn writes a highly charged story in Past Running. Devlin is an alpha man through and through and Aeryn is just the woman to tame him...or not. Well-created characters and sizzling sex scenes make this story too hot to miss.
Wow! ELLORA'S CAVEMEN: TALES FROM THE TEMPLE IV is a captivating, bewitching anthology of stories that has something for every reader to enjoy. From time-travel, to vampires, to future worlds, it contains a little bit of everything. The sex scenes are highly explosive, earning the E-rotic rating it carries, and the characters charming in this enticing selection of tales.

The Road to Romance

Reviewer: S. Khaw, January, 2005

Publisher Ellora’s Cave continues their Ellora’s Cavemen anthology series with their fourth book. While not all of these stories may be everyone’s cup of tea, I think this series is a terrific way to introduce yourself to Ellora’s Cave authors you may not have read before.

This story may be uncomfortable for some readers due to the attempted rapes in this story. While they do make the story more realistic, it does ruin the romantic mood, even though these actions are not by the hero. I thought the things Aeryn did to signal the sheriff were clever. For a story that is supposed to be “romantica,” I think this story suffered from too much focus on the ex-husband and his actions.

A Romance Review

Next is Past Running by Mlyn Hurn. Aeryn Michaels divorced her husband Craig after he’d been sent to jail for armed robbery. Sheriff Devlin McDonald at first wonders if she knows where her ex hid his stolen money. He knows it’s not a good idea to get involved with her, but they aren’t able to deny their desire for each other. When Craig escapes from prison, he takes Aeryn hostage, needing her help in escaping the police and in recovering his stolen money. Aeryn does her best to keep Craig from forcing himself on her and just hopes that Devlin is able to rescue her soon. Devlin is racked with fear over what might be happening to her and is racing to save her before it is too late. While this story dealt with no otherworldly or paranormal aspects, it certainly wasn’t lacking for heat.

This anthology is a blend of vampire, ghost, futuristic and time travel, but not all of the stories contain a paranormal story line. The common thread in all the stories was a strong heroine, a sexy hero and lots of chemistry. A great addition to the Tales From the Temple series.

Past Running by Mlyn Hurn will be a great one if the main characters aren't straight out of a stereotype mould. Aeryn Michaels' ex-husband Craig Morelli turned out to be a no-good smooth talker who is currently serving time for armed robbery. Aeryn predictably doesn't care for men again, yadda yadda yadda. The sheriff Devlin McDonald has his suspicions about Aeryn hiding Craig's bank heist loot but all sense of professionalism flies out the door when he sees what a babe she is. Things become a little more exciting when Craig breaks out of jail and he and his brothers take Aeryn and her sisters hostage. Nobody in this story seems to have much sense. Craig seems more concerned about Aeryn sleeping with her ex-husband rather than her actual safety. Aeryn is a stereotype in her background and actions. The whole premise isn't credible and the story comes off as yet another silly set-up just to get people to lose their clothes and start boinking.

Enchanted in Romance

Going for a divorce soon after her husband went to jail, Aeryn was happy to be on her own. Seeing the new sheriff on her doorstep was a shock and she knew he was here for the same information every other cop was, where was the money that her ex-husband stole? The attraction between Aeryn and Sheriff Devlin McDonald was instantaneous. Being a small town, they avoided each other but at a community dance the heat turned up and they couldn’t resist jumping into the flames. After months of being together out of site of the townspeople, their love bloomed. The escape of Craig and his cousins from jail put Devlin on alert, he knew the bastard would go back for Aeryn. When he found Aeryn and her companions missing he knew they were taken, and he had to find them, he couldn’t lose the woman he loved.
